another night of plotting over dinner with my friend ken; he suggested this little kopitiam on Lygon St and spoke of his kaya + runny eggs cravings – my immediate response : KAYAINMELBOURNELETSGO…!! [kaya being coconut jam; see my previous excitement about killiney kaya when my cousin came down HERE]

i had no idea there was a lil singapore joint in the city area like this, food was decent, although i think we both had to agree the kaya toast was much better than the savoury dishes [ken described his as “kind of tasteless”]. was also quite amusing to see and watch the group of singaporean boys behind us cheer and have live commentary on the chess matches [“makan the pawn!” ROFL]…as well as boast who had more chess training……eheheh.

…will be coming back here for my kaya cravings in the future:D

Have you tried buying the kaya jam from the asian grocers? it’s orange and comes in a tin. pretty good 🙂 kaya sandwiches and pb&j were my staple sandwiches in primary school 🙂

Old Town at QV is the best, but this was OK I suppose. Probably best for the different types of Kaya Toast and skip the main dishes.
